Skittles Party

We had a "Skittles Party" at my church last night for the teen girls.  It was part of a six week series that I am teaching on purity.  They were asked to come dressed in as many colors as they could.  I won't be posting pictures of them since I don't have their parents' permission, but thought I'd post a few pics of my colorful outfit.  Check out my colorful hair scrunchies.  In my opinion, I should have won the prize that we awarded for the most colorful outfit.  But I had to be mature and let one of the younger girls win it. :-)

Free Speech

A good quote I just read regarding free speech by Justice Lord Sedley of the British High Court in 2000...

“Free speech,” he wrote, “includes not only the inoffensive, but the irritating, the contentious, the eccentric, the heretical, the unwelcome and provocative provided that it does not tend to violence. Freedom only to speak inoffensively is not worth having.”

This quote was contained in an article talking about how people are being charged in the UK with violations for homophobic hate speech. So strange to me. We've got to value free speech both for those who call homosexuality sin and those who speak out that any form of sexual expression should be allowed. The answer is not to squelch free speech for either side. That will only lead to tyranny. Just my musings...
