Evil

Why is it so hard for us to believe in a loving holy God that is worthy of all our praise and adoration? Why do we let evil people who do evil things cause us to question not only the love of God but His very existence? When a gunman pulls out his rifle filled with deadly ammo, and shoots ten people dead in Alabama, why do we immediately cry out and question God as to why He would let this happen? Don't get me wrong, I do understand why we question in the midst of such unholy, unfair, absolutely evil circumstances. But I would challenge you to be cautious of where you place the blame. God did not make that man get up yesterday morning and tell him to shoot those people. God did not load the gun. God did not aim the gun and pull the trigger. In all reality, this occurred because one single man turned his back on God, whatever his reasons, whatever his pain and whoever he felt was to blame. The only way evil will decrease is for good men, those who believe in a loving God and a loving way of life, to continue to love all the more when these things happen. There is a very famous quote that says something like this, "All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing." Don't believe the evil lies of Satan. There is a good and loving God who had a good and loving plan for your life - ultimately that you would spend eternity in heaven with him, when all evil shall be sent where it belongs - to hell.

Have you read "The Shack" yet? This question is brought up and explored in a very good way.

What a horrible, tragic day. But I agree with you, Mel. How can we blame God? His desire is for good and not evil. His desire is that we would be holy as he is holy. We kick God out of our schools, our government, our work places, etc... then we blame Him for not intervening when we want Him to. The wonderful thing about God is that He gives us free will to love Him... He never forces us. But this also means that there is free will to choose evil. These horrible choices break the heart of God more than it breaks ours.
